About
So, what is spirited running?
Spirited runners race with passion—drawing from strength deep within to run faster, longer, more often. We use the mental side of running to keep going when our bodies say it’s time to stop. Spirited runners desire to be outside, not in an office.
You may find a spirited runner racing along a root- and rock-riddled trail at 7 a.m. on a Saturday morning—inhaling deeply the sweet smell of the dew as it tugs on the blades of the high grass.
Or, once the bed-time stories are read, the children tucked in and asleep, it’s the spirited runner you see running along the shoulder of the two-lane highway with headlamp bobbing rhythmically in stride.
Either way, spirited runners enjoy running—one step at a time.
About the author
My name is Rob Huff. I live in Auburn, Calif., and have been running now for almost three years. I initially started running to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training® (TNT), but have since continued to run (gasp) for fun!
Self-titled the Endurance Capital of the world, Auburn is a terrific place for outdoor activities such as running, hiking and horseback riding. Since my horseback riding experience began and ended with a not-so-good experience during the formative years of my youth, you will not receive much insight into this activity. I will, however, vividly capture my hiking and running experiences–what I like, what I don’t, as it relates to hiking and running through the streets and trails of this beautiful Sierra Foothills community.
